There are 2 types of Ceiling fans which work with PIXIE – AC Ceiling fans and DC ceiling fans.
PIXIE recommend using V2 DC ceiling fans from Hunter Pacific International, an Australian family owned business. (Available Late 2022)

What’s the Difference between AC and DC Fans #
DC Fans require less energy and generally operate more quietly, using a Remote Control or “handset” for operation.
AC Fans typical have a ‘wall controller’ installed can be nosier and consume more energy.

Hunter Pacific V2 DC Ceiling Fan Control #
PIXIE provides the ability to control speed, direction – and if the fan has a light, the colour and dimmed level of the light. Of course this depends on the capabilities of the fans being used too.
This can be done via the PIXIE Apps, PIXIE Touch Panel and from the wall using the PIXIE Multifunction Rotary Controller too.
If you use the PIXIE PLUS app with voice control capabilities then of course you can also control all elements available on the fans using voice control.

What do I need to make my ceiling fans work with PIXIE? #
There are three simple steps to access smart home control of ceiling fans with PIXIE.
1. You must buy a compatible Hunter Pacific International DC V2 ceiling Fan. See a list of compatible fans below.
2. You must buy the small plug in module, from Hunter Pacific International – part #PIXIEM098 – which “PIXIEFYS” your compatible fans. This plug-in module is sold separately.
3. You must download either the free SAL PIXIE App or the PIXIE PLUS app from the App Store or Google Play store – depending on your mobile platform. If you desire on-wall control we recommend installing the PIXIE Multifunction Rotary Controller ( SMFR/BTAS ).
Note the PIXIE PLUS (for voice control and out of home control) app also requires a PIXIE Gateway (SGW3/BTAM) whereas the SAL PIXIE app does not and will operate without any additional products.
If you already have PIXIE PLUS, the functionality described below works with the Generation 1 Gateway (SGW/BT – 3 lights on the front) and the Generation 3 Gateway (SGW3/BTAM – 4 lights on the front)
Even if you don’t already have a PIXIE smart home, simply by downloading the SAL PIXIE app and the Hunter Pacific International equipment detailed above, you can quickly and easily get smart control over your ceiling fans.
You don’t have to add any other PIXIE smart home devices if you choose not to.

What About Wall Control? #
Your Hunter Pacific Ceiling Fan will come with a remote control handset, which you can always use to control your fans as well as being able to control using the PIXIE apps.
If you are seeking or more permanent wall control, you can have your electrician install one or more PIXIE Multifunction Remote controls (part#: SMFR/BTAS), which when paired with an individual fan, provides complete control of fan and light functionality from a single device
This rotary dial controller fits into a wide range of Australian wall plates for maximum compatibility.
Home owners can have multiple Rotary dials installed in different locations to control the same fan if they choose, and these can be added at anytime in the future.
Both devices control the same IP rated ceiling fan.
Of course, Mobile App control and even voice control of fans is possible so each home owner can choose their preferred control method to match the way they wish to live.

All fans have the same control capability as provided by the remote control device which is included in the fan package.
- – 6 & 9 Speed fan control depending on model purchased
- – Forward and reverse ( for winter )
- – 3 time outs – that is “after 4 hours turn off” for example – 1 hour, 2 hour, 4 hour
- – SLEEP MODE
PIXIE Touch Panel with Hunter Pacific DC Fan only ( no light )
This is ideal if you want to go to sleep with your fan running faster and have it automatically slow down overnight without having to touch it.
Fan light #
Compatible Hunter Pacific International ceiling fans with a light have additional control capabilities.
- – Operate light on and off
- – Dim light through 9 levels
- – Change the colour of the light – Warm white, cool white, daylight
- – Each colour can also be dimmed.

How Does the PIXIE Multifunction Rotary Controller Operate the Fans? #
There are some steps needed before you have control.
- 1. Installed by your electrician – 5 minutes to 15minutes depending on your wiring
- 2. Added to the PIXIE Apps – 30 seconds
- 3. Software updated – 2-3 minutes
- 4. Paired to the fan of your choice – <30 seconds
Once these simple, quick steps have been performed the PIXIE Multifunction Controller is preconfigured to operate with the Hunter Pacific International ceiling fans.

What about 2 Way and Multiway Control of Ceiling Fans #
If you need control of the same fan from multiple wall points, no problem, simply install another PIXIE Multifunction control at that desire location, pair it to your fan and enjoy the same control capabilities.
2 way control of ceiling fans has never been this easy. You can have control from up to 7 different Rotary Dials for an individual fan.
You can also use the PIXIE Touch Panel to control all of your fans throughout your home as well as all other PIXIE smart home devices you may have installed.
PIXIE Touch Panel – Fan Interface – Off
Your PIXIE Touch Panel and your PIXIE Apps have the same interface for controlling fans. If you need to modify any settings this is done with your PIXIE Apps and the PIXIE Touch Panel is an optional extra, to elevate your smart home experience – but it is not needed to control fans.
Can I Control Groups of Ceiling Fans? #
Yes, you can create PIXIE Groups of your fans and control all aspects of the fan speed and light as applicable.
This means you have whole house control of every PIXIE enabled fan.
Can I Include Ceiling Fans in My Scenes? #
Yes you can set fan speed state and light colour and level, as well as control any and all other PIXIE devices installed as part of the same scene.
Now you can set the mood throughout your home with a single command or button press and make sure your fans are not left out!
Can I Schedule my Ceiling Fans? #
Yes, you can schedule individual fans, groups of fans and ( with PIXIE PLUS) schedule your Scenes with ceiling fans too.
You can pre-cool or maintain a steadier temperature at home whilst you are not around, and manage your power consumption exactly as you like.
What if I have a previous version (V1) of this fan, will it still work? #
More information is available from Hunter Pacific – who does sell a fan receiver upgrade to convert older models too.
Only some models of Hunter Pacific Fans, can be retrofitted with a new V2 fan control module. You are best to contact Hunter Pacific International directly and discuss this with them.
Your electrician changes over the fan control module to the new version, inserts the PIXIE module and you’re in full control.
