Once the SAL PIXIE Multiway Switch S2WBT or S2WBTAS is installed correctly it is necessary to complete the PAIRING process for correct operation.
PAIRING must be done with the lighting in the OFF state.
It is possible to have a maximum of 2 x S2W/BT (Gen1 and now discontinued) or S2W/BTAS (Gen3) connected to a single master dimmer or switch.
If more than 3 way switching is needed, the PIXIE Multifunction controllers (SMF/BTAS) can be used, however these devices require a neutral, unlike the S2W range.
- – The S2W device must be within 10-15metres or “1 concrete wall” of the Master device to which you are attempting to pair.
- – The Gen1 S2W/BT (white body) DOES NOT work with SWL600BTAM or SDD300BTAM products. Instead use the S2W/BTAS (Gen3 blue-body product)
Are you sure you have a 2 way (S2W/BTAS) and not a Multifunction Switch (SMF/BTAS)? #
There are 2 different methods for providing 2 way and multiway control using PIXIE – with a S2W ‘Multiway” device and a SMF “Multifunction device”. These provide the same outcome in a different way depending on the wiring and access in a home.
So how do you know what you have?
- ⇒ If there is a dim blue or orange lights then you have an SMF product
- ⇒ If there is no light then you have an S2W product,
If you have access and you can see the rear of the devices then these colours also tell you what you have:
- ⇒ A green base means you have an SMF
- ⇒ A gray base means you have an S2W
Do You Have a Bluetooth Mesh Radio Signal Issue? #
If you continue to have issues you can plug in a PIXIE Smart Plug (part# ESS105BT) directly into a power point between the 2 devices and add these devices to your App. Then try and re-pair. This device is the simplest Bluetooth Mesh Booster to use as it requires no electrical installation.
Once the devices are paired, remove the Boosters and test the performance. If performance remains good then the Boosters can be removed and used elsewhere.
LED INDICATOR OPERTION #
The LED indicator on the S2W/BT and S2W/BTAS only operate when pressed. It does not stay illuminated – this is the correct operation for this product and it is not faulty.
APP PAIRING PROCESS #
The App pairing process is very similar to the manual pairing process below – with a change in STEP 1.
Of course you must first setup a home in the SAL PIXIE app and ADD the master device ( dimmer or switch for example) to which you are going to pair the S2W device.
STEP 1: Navigate to the devices section of the appropriate app and select the primary device to which you wish to pair the S2WBTAS for 2-way operation. Click the three little dots in the top right-hand corner and select “PAIRING”. Answer OK to the dialogue and follow the on-screen instructions.
The on-screen instructions are identical to STEP 1 below.
MANUAL PAIRING PROCESS #
STEP 1: Make sure the light/load is turned OFF.
Quickly click the button of the SDD350BT (GEN2 DIMMER) / SDD300BTAM (GEN3 DIMMER) / SDD400SFI (SFI DIMMER) / SWL600BTAM (GEN3 SWITCH) / STS600BTAM (GEN3 TIMER SWITCH) – 4 times quickly (2-3 seconds) to enter pairing mode. In pairing mode, the LED indicator quickly flashes blue and white for 30 seconds.
STEP 2: Quickly click the button of the S2WBTAS 4 times quickly (2-3 seconds) before the 30 second pairing window expires.
The S2W/BTAS will pair with the other devices. When the LED indicator of the S2WBT flashes twice and the stays lit for 2 seconds, pairing is successful.
Note: If you are planning on using the PIXIE or PIXIE PLUS APPs for control of the PIXIE smarthome, we recommend using the pairing method from the APPs instead of manual pairing.
If you have already manually paired these devices AND THEN choose to use the App you will have to repeat the pairing process for all items.
