If your PIXIE dimmer is not working here are a range of steps to help you understand why and how to get it working.
Is the Power On? #
This might seem like an obvious question, but important to understand that t he circuit breaker has not tripped on your lighting circuit, meaning your dimmer would not have any power.
Just because another dimmer or light is working does not mean they are on the same circuit breaker.
In most homes your power circuit and your lighting circuits are not the same – so whilst your TV is working this does not mean that your lighting is working with power.
Best to check in your electrical board to see if any breakers have tripped.
if you re not comfortable doing this then speak with your electrician.
If it has tripped, switch it back on – if it refuses to stay on you have a fault and need to call your electrician.
Can you control it from the wall but not from the App? #
When you press the button on the wall the dimmer operates as per normal, but when you navigate to the App either it is not visible or does not operate.
Firs thing to check is the colour of the LED indicator.
- a) If it is WHITE – this means that this device is NOT part of a PIXIE home and cannot be controlled from the App right now, only from the wall.
- b) If it is BLUE or ORANGE the device has been added to a PIXIE home in the app and should be able to be controlled.
a) The LED Indicator is White #
As the device has not been added into the PIXIE app it cannot be controlled from the App and you will need to add it.
How to add devices with the PIXIE App:
b) The LED Indicator is BLUE or Orange but I cannot control the dimmer from the App #
These colours indicate the dimmer is part of a PIXIE home.
If you cannot control it be sure that with your PIXIE or PIXIE PLUS app that you are actually in the correct PIXIE home.
These Apps allow users to have control of multiple homes.
Be sure you are in the correct home by navigating to Home Management section and determine which HOME you are currently controlling from the App.
If it was previously part of your PIXIE home and you cannot control it now, move physically close to the location of the dimmer in your home.
Restart the PIXIE App.
It should now be visible – If it is visible, then this may mean you have a Bluetooth mesh connection issue in your home that stops you from being able to control it when you are a certain distance away from the device
This article shows you how to improve that so this wont happen any more:
c) The LED INDICATOR was previously BLUE or ORANGE but now its WHITE. #
Resetting the dimmer removes it from your App, but still allow manual control from the wall.
To add the dimmer back to your home in the PIXIE App, use the ADD DEVICE tool in the PIXIE app to scan for available devices.
The dimmer should appear on the list of devices once the scan is complete.
Press the Add button, save, and test operation from the App for the dimmer.
The LED indicator is flashing different colours #
Typically this indicates a fault condition.
Often the best way to clear this fault condition is turn the power to that lighting circuit of, wait for 15-20 seconds, then turn it back on.
This may also help:
Try a Reset #
Another process you can try is a reset and re-add back into the PIXIE App.
To reset any PIXIE device, press the button 9 times in quick succession – within 3-5 seconds.
Once reset, its LED will return to white, and you can then ADD the device back in using the Add devices process.
None of this worked #
On rare occasions, and typically after a transients event or lighting storms, the dimmer may operate strangely.
The best way to rectify this issue is to turn the electrical breaker off to that lighting circuit, wait 10-15 seconds and turn it back on.
Then, press the DIMMER once – WAIT for about 10 seconds – and then press it again to operate.
There should be no need to have to re-add the device back into the app and you should be able to control it from both the wall and your App
