Update Software First #
The first steps are to be sure everything is up to date:
- 1. Update your App on your mobile device to the most recent version. – Also update your operating system on your mobile device.
- 2. If using PIXIE PLUS, check that your PIXIE Gateway Firmware is up to date (Setting -> Home Management -> [Your home] -> Gateway Info)
- 3. Check PIXIE devices that are part of the scene have their firmware up to date (Settings -> Advanced -> Update Master Device Firmware)
Remove Apostrophes #
Next you should check the names of your devices, groups and scenes:
Specifically you should ensure there are NO APOSTROPHE’s in the names of any device, groups or scenes.
If there are please rename all instances and remove the apostrophes.
Get Close #
Finally, when creating and saving scenes, be sure you are as close to the PIXIE Gateway as possible (if using PIXIE PLUS) and that your mobile device is on the same network subnet as the Gateway.
To check: (Setting -> Home Management -> [Your home] -> Gateway Info)
The PIXIE PLUS app will provide details in red or green text to indicate if there are any issues at this point that you need to rectify on site with respects to connection.
Other Things to Try and Reasons you may be experiencing issues #
Here are a few other hints and tips that may help.
Are your authorised? #
If you are using PIXIE PLUS you cannot be a guest and add, edit or delete most things.
Only the master owner of the PIXIE account has this ability.
So if you only have partial control of the home or cannot actually find an EDIT button, likely you are just a guest and cannot make adjustments, only control.
Dimmed too low? #
If as part of your scene you have set a very low dimming level on downlights – and they are not coming on when you recall the scene – you may need to increase that dimmed level.
This means the scene has actually been saved, but the downlights cannot be turned on from OFF to that very low dimmed level.
Depending on the downlights, sometimes they need to be initially activated at a higher dimmed level and then dimmed down to a level over time
Voice commands not recognised? #
Depending on the voice assistant you are using there may be some ‘reserved; words that mean something else to the voice assistant.
Try changing the name of a scene to something different, and try again.
You can also try some of these commands:
- “Activate [insert scene name] Scene” – instead of just saying the name of the scene
- Substitute phrases such as “turn on, switch on, set level” to see if your voice assistant understands you
- If using Google Home say “Hey Google Synchronise settings”
