We hope to restart the program in 2025.

UPDATE!: As of February 2023 PIXIE has an active software engineering program to develop Matter Compatibility for PIXIE PLUS.
Exact details of how this will be deployed with PIXIE are still to be finalised, but likely it will be deployed, at least initially, by use of the PIXIE Gen3 Gateway SGW3/BTAM
Depending on development timing this may be available in 2023 for deployment, however more information will follow.
Matter certification bears a significant cost PER ITEM CERTIFIED and its its current state is likely to guide the number of devices we choose for deployment until the market matures.
Matter is something that we have been watching since its inception as it is an interesting concept for making smart home adoption more widespread,
More information about MATTER at the home page here:
Like many of these promised ‘standards’ with widespread support from big industry players – sometimes they never come to be, sometimes they get as start and the market chooses not to adopt them, and sometimes they are winners.
The great thing about ‘standards’ is there’s so many to choose from 🙂
“The great thing about ‘standards’ is there’s so many to choose from?”
So many companies use this argument and then create their own
its not an argument but a fact – there are a lot of choices and different ways to deploy solutions. We’ve always maintained we would watch the space carefully and deliver value where the market was taking the ecosystem with a view to maintaining simplicity and usability.
As you can see we have started our Matter process and of course there are rumblings that Matter is not all is what hyped to be – time will tell.

Hi Simon, is there an update on Matter Support for Pixie?
Now that version 1.2 has been released we have been able to better review its capabilities with respects to enhancing compatibility and capability.
Unfortunately it is currently still not inclusive of a large number of smart home TYPE device, which will be added no doubt in a later version.
As there are significant certification fees for manufacturers, per device, per version we have decided to HOLD the project until there is more capability which better aligns with PIXIE’s capabilities already. Otherwise it would be a regression in capabilities not and advancement and on subsequent releases it would be necessary for recertification fees to be paid.
We are actively engaged in the process and review with our overseas teams and technology partners to select the best moment in time to deploy.
This is very disappointing. What was the reason?
Hi Tony you can read the entry on this page for more details (see comments at bottom of the page):
