As of January 2023 there is no direct integration module for PIXIE and Home Assistant available.
However, as PIXIE works with Samsung SmartThings and Smart Things integration is available with PIXIE, it is possible to integrate PIXIE with your Home Assistant ecosystem today.

As SmartThings is integrated into Home Assistant through the SmartThings Cloud API, an internet connection is required.
Exact details of how this will be deployed with PIXIE are still to be finalised, but likely it will be deployed, at least initially, by use of the PIXIE Gen3 Gateway SGW3/BTAM
Depending on development timing this may be available in 2023 for deployment, however more information will follow.
Release of the PIXIE API has been delayed until 2024 due to the volume of other hardware and software projects and internal resource limitations.
We will provide more details as they come to hand.

Using it in AH via SmartThings gives a very slow response. AH just overhauled their Bluetooth abilities so it may be easier to integrate Pixie Plus.
We have had some reports of SmartThings reacting more slowly than compared to Google, Amazon or SIRI shortcuts. As always user experience is our goal and part of the reason we don’t have a HA interface at this time – there are too many links in that chain to deliver a fast response. As we understand the Bluetooth version HA now uses if 5.0 – which is not what PIXIE uses.
Thanks. HA is gaining popularity with increasing user base and supporting HA may give Pixie Plus an advantage, with potential to increase it’s market share. A well build implementation in HA, with local network control of the Pixie Hub and direct BLE control of nearby switches (if possible, less important than hub control) will mean no links in the chain and a fast, local, response, like it is from the Pixie app. Controlling Pixie Plus switches with AH via Google Home is cumbersome and slow because commands to Google Home from HA are done via voice commands to Google Assistant. I’m not sure about Siri because I don’t use it.
Please do this.I’m an Electrician and would utilise this
Yes please, the Pixie switches are great because no cloud required. Proper HA support would be brilliant.
Looking to refit my entire house and HA is a hard requirement. I don’t have SmartThings and there are enough other products to go elsewhere if support is not going to be forthcoming. As mentioned previously, HA released an improved Bluetooth stack that coexists with other integrations
Hi, as it’s a hard requirement and we cannot promise a date or even if we are going to ever provide a module, then perhaps you’re best to look for a different solution. As mentioned before we don’t use that Bluetooth stack so that’s moot.
I have to say, this response doesn’t feel very professional… people simply offering some insights that would support the improvement of the product and therefore increase sales… this response has a terrible tone.
Hi Dan this is an honest response to a customer stating that unless we can guarantee an interface he’s unlikely to
Use PIXIE. We will never promise something we can’t deliver.
Yes please 1000 times yes. HA has become the go to smart home controller as one of the few on the market that don’t require subscription or specific ecosystems (google home only works on Google devices as does Apple home and Android echo) Samsung ST is also not yet a true competitor as they’re not as widely supported and require a subscription to operate.
Phillips Hue, which seem to operate much as you do, have managed to make this work by using their local hub and allowing connection to HA with a supported integration. I’ve used this for several years and haven’t noticed any real lag.
If you don’t want to be left out of the smart home market, a VERY worth while investment is working on a fully supported HA integration.
I love how your switches look and the fact that I could run them over POE is an even bigger selling point however I can’t even consider them until my home assistant is supported.
Hi,
I’m looking to update my home with Pixie and I use Home Assistant which seems to work great and doesn’t rely on anyone’s infrastructure other than my own.
It would be great to have Pixie integration much sooner so you can get my business and others looking for a similar solution.
Thanks,
Daryl
Just about to do a house rewiring and already heavily into home assistant. Would love to have integration with pixie as dependence on internet is too big a liability
Hi Peter, PIXIE has no dependence on the internet for reliable day to day operation including schedules, scenes, groups and interfacing to a range of other systems. If you would like voice control (or SmartThings Integration) then yes Internet access it required and the same also applies for out of home control …
But PIXIE does not need the internet to provide smart home control functionality.
Hope this helps
It would be amazing if Pixie could integrate locally with Home Assistant. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time!
+1 for Home Assistant support in some way shape or form. I am an HA amateur but I am a web developer. If Pixie were to provide some sort of API to interact with the Gateway then I would happily take a stab at turning that into a HA integration to share with the community. Pixie team hit me up!
Have just invested in a decent amount of Pixie lights and switches but currently only powering through Google Home. Looking at HA<>Google Home options it seems pretty limited so would absolutely love to do something to enable direct Pixie<>HA comms!
Another vote for HA integration. My electrician just offer my your products for my next renovation (March 2023), but I will not accept them without a local HA control. I’ll stick to Tuya based Deta gear used local Tuya integration in HA if i don’t see a good solution.
Publish your API to your hub, or BLE direct. We’ll do the work.
Is your BLE visible to apps like nRT Connect?
Hi Mark thanks for the feedback – if and when we release one we’ll update everyone who has expressed an interest.
Me too !! I have HA and am in the middle of renovating. Electrician recommended Pixie smart switches (controllable from App as I understand it), but not directly controllable from HA.
If this is eventually provided, would that mean a firmware update or switch replacement ??
Hello Steve, likely there will be no need for any firmware updates and access to a PIXIE API would be enabled via the PIXIE gateway. The PIXIE gateway works for both cloud connectivity and local connectivity too.
Hello Simon, I have upgrade all my current switch to pixie already. I need that work in HA or Homekit ASAP, can you tell me when would the matter upgrade arrive.
We don’t have any firm ETA at this time but we are certainly working through a high number of software based projects. When we are closer we’ll update you – in the interim enjoy PIXIE with the knowledge that we’re working in the background step by step to improve capability and functionality.
Hi – wondering if there’s any update on ETA here? And another vote for Home Assistant integration.
Hi there for clarity we are not releasing a Home Assistant specific interface , rather we are planning on releasing a PIXIE API which would allow those with the capability to deliver a level of interfacing with PIXIE.
Hi Simonj,
If you’re planning to give anyone early access during development I would love to put my hand up. Would be happy to start cracking away at initial Home Assistant connectivity so that you could get access to that market ASAP 🙂
Adding my voice to the list of people who would love to see some sort of local API connectivity. I’ve been using HomeAssistant for the past year, and I’m about to pull the trigger on a few grand worth of smart switches and components to complete an ongoing renovation project. That’ll be the start of buying even more as I automate the rest of the home.
I can totally understand the lack of commitment to providing official HA integration. In my opinion there’s no need for SAL to expend the time and effort on this. Just provide the community with a local API via the Pixie Gateway, and let us do the rest. My Daikin AC integration to HomeAssistant works this way, and it’s excellent.
For me, the value is in using HA as an integration gateway between the various systems. Pixie will never achieve this level of automation natively. For example, turn on the lights in the lounge when my CCTV system detects a person loitering in the carport between midnight and 6AM, or to automatically turn off the TV powerpoint if the kids try watching TV before school on a weekday.
I’d previously dismissed SAL Pixie because of the Bluetooth aspect and because there’s no HA integration, but I’ve spent the last few hours browsing the list of available products and I really like what I see. I’d also love to support an Australian company, and will never use Tuya products in my home due to that reason and others. Although I’ve test driven both Clipsal and Legrand’s products, they don’t seem like a match for what SAL has developed, and the remainder of the competition are too cheap and nasty.
My sparky highly recommends SAL downlights, and I’d love to integrate the wider ecosystem as well. I also really like the look of the Pixie touch panel, and the fact that it can be powered over PoE. SAL really missed a trick by not making the gateway PoE capable!
Hi and thanks for all the detail. We actually share your POV.
We are actively working on an API to make public ally available.
They key for us is simplicity and documentation to permit and encourage fast setup and reliable operation without complexity.
I’m in the process of evaluating smart home products for use in a complete interior renovation. I’m very interested in the Pixie Plus range – but it is really important to me that I can integrate the smart switches with Home Assistant. I understand that an API is in development that will enable the community to produce a HA integration. Is there any news on when this will be released?
HI Rob, yes you are right the API is underway. We had initially hoped it would be available this year, but that has been delayed until at least 2024.
Towards the end of this year we will have a better idea of timing for 2024 – unfortunately cannot provide clearer guidance at this time and we don’t like to over-promise on dates – just in case.
hope that helps.
I have been keenly waiting for updates on an API release. I am at the point of needing to start making some purchase decisions and am checking to see if I can expect to hear anything before the end of January about direct integration into Home Assistant. I have tried a few ways of sending through SmartThings or google, but the extra delay does not meet the wife approval factor. Planning on integrating daylight sensors, mmWave sensors, as well as many others, hence the need for HA rather than native app.
We are certainly still working on this and our intent is to release an API. At this time we are not in a position to provide a timeline however. We understand this may influence your decision we simply do not want to over-promise and under-deliver.
