Introduction #
The PIXIE smart home system has 2 primary dimmers
- 1. The SDD350BT – A Generation 2 (G2) PIXIE product released in 2019/20
- 2. The SDD300BTAM – A Generation 3 (G3) PIXIE product released in 2021
The G2 and G3 dimmers are compatible with all other G1-G3 PIXIE products
SDD300BTAM #
The PIXIE SDD300BTAM is most notably a more compact form factor when compared to the SDD350BT dimmer.
This new form factor means that it is possible to create multi-gang wall plates larger than 3 gang when using PIXIE dimmers – up to 6 gang.
Until the release of the PIXIE SDD300BTAM, it was only possible to create a maximum 3 gang wall plate.
There are some other important additions and differences as seen in the graphics below.
SDD350BT #
The PIXIE SDD350BT will typically have a lower price point than the newer Generation 3 product.
Additionally the SDD350BT has terminals on board for installation versus the ‘tails’ which the SDD300BTAM is now shipped with, and part of the reason why the new G3 dimmer is a more compact form factor too.
The SDD350BT does have a higher capacity for resistive loads of 350Watts, versus the SDD300BTAM which has a 300Watt Resistive load capacity.
However the SDD300BTAM has a higher LED capacitive load of 250VA compared to the SDD350BT 200VA LED lighting maximum load capacity.
