# How do I control loads more than 600Watts with PIXIE?

There are a few different ways to control loads larger than 600W.

The PIXIE SWL600BTAM is the smart module which has a maximum load of 600W resistive, 400W for LED loads and 120VAC for inductive or motor loads - as per the installation manual.

***Loads with poor electrical performance will apply additional destructive impact to the switch, beyond its rated capabilities, irrespective of power consumption. This can result on both a shortened lifespan and irreversible damage to this device. The SWL600BTAM & STS600BTAM device is not compatible with devices below this minimum specification:***

- **POWERFACTOR: < 0.7**
- **INRUSH: > 24A**

**As of March 2023 the following drivers ARE NOT compatible with PIXIE SWL600 or STS600 devices due to less than recommended power factor and in rush characteristics**

**⇒ Aquatran AQD 24V DC,**

**⇒ 100W Havit HV9653 12V, 60W**

**⇒ Weatherproof LED driver QZAO 24V, 200W waterproof LED driver**

## Using the SWL600BTAM PIXIE Smart switch to switch larger loads

The PIXIE smart switch can drive contactors, which in turn can drive larger loads.

You will need to use one or more CAPACITORS across the load and neutral, depending on the contactor i use, to ensure the minimum load requirement of the device is reached.

This will provide sufficient load for reliable switching of the contactor.

## Using the PC206DR/R/BTAM PIXIE Dual Relay Controller to switch larger loads

The Dual Relay control has a larger load capacity of 6AMP resistive max. load for each of the 2 relays.

This can also control contactors for larger loads, and unlike the SWL600BTAM which needs capacitors has no minimum load requirement and hence no need for capacitors.

The preferred method of controlling Contactors is via the PIXIE Dual Relay Controller – PC206DR-R-BTAM.

This will control up to 2 separate Contactors – 1 on each relay.

On wall control is then provided by installing 1 or 2 of the  PIXIE SMF/BTAS and pairing each of these to the corresponding relay on the Dual Relay Controller.
