# Does PIXIE work with air conditioning systems?

Yes there are a few different ways PIXIE can operate with different air conditioning systems.

**PIXIE works with:**

-  - Mitsubishi Electric - Ducted and Splits
- - DAIKIN Ducted and VRF/VRV - not splits
- - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Coming soon 2026)

Control of other systems as per below

There are 2 main types of air conditioning systems:

1. 1. Split Systems
2. 2. Ducted System

PIXIE provides the following capabilities as of August 2022 - with more under development right now.

## Split Systems

The best way to integrate PIXIE with split system is by using a 3rd party controller like a SENSIBO.

This device can be bought at any box box electronic retailer and plugs into the wall and communicates using IR ( infra red ) to a huge range of split system air conditioning systems.

Using the PIXIE PLUS App and the PIXIE Gateway, with a range  of Voice Assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant it is possible to create "Automations' which include BOTH PIXIE devices and SENSIBO devices.

**For example a home owner:**

- - A home owner has PIXIE installed along with a PIXIE Gateway
- - They also have a SENSIBO device installed and connected to their Amazon Alexa
- - They have their account linked to their Amazon Alexa account and an Alexa voice assistant installed in their home.

By creating an "Automation" in the Alexa App environment called "Welcome Home" as just one example, this "Automation" combines a number of actions such as :

- - Open the garage door using PIXIE
- - Turn on the Air conditioning system in the  lounge rooms using SENSIBO
- - Turn the kitchen pendants to 75% using PIXIE

The home owner simply issues the voice commands "Alexa, welcome home" and this Automation operates, inlcuding operation of the Split Air Conditioning System

## Ducted Systems

PIXIE is capable of providing power-management of ducted systems only at this time ( August 2022)

That is, the ability to turn the system on and off only.

This is achieved by using the PIXIE Blind and Signal controller (part#: PC206BS/R/BTAM) to send a PULSE to the ducted systems main controller.

PIXIE does not currently support temperature control, fan speed control, cooling/ heating or zone control.
